A salon retail POS that sells the shampoo too

Retail is the margin a salon floor leaves on the shelf. GetSalonPOS sells products by barcode or by tap, tracks stock to the unit, credits the stylist who recommended it and lists the same products in your online store.

What does “salon retail” mean?

Salon retail
Salon retail is the products you sell to clients to take home: shampoo, conditioner, styling, treatments, tools and accessories. It is separate from backbar, the products used during services. Good salon software tracks both, but only retail is sold at a price to the client.

Retail product sales: how it works, step by step

Five steps, in the order the desk meets them.

  1. Add or import products

Import your price list or scan barcodes as you go. Products can have variants (size, shade), cost price and selling price.

  2. Sell at the chair or the desk

Add products to the service ticket so it all goes on one bill, or sell retail-only at the counter by scan or tap.

  3. Credit the stylist

Choose who recommended the product. Retail commission is calculated with the rest.

  4. Watch stock

Every sale reduces stock. Set an alert level and create a purchase order to your distributor when it drops.

  5. Sell online

The same catalogue powers your auto-generated online store: same price, same stock, no second list.

Feature 04 · FAQ

Retail product sales: your questions

Selling

Can I scan barcodes?

Yes, with any USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner, or a phone camera. See the hardware guide. You can also print your own barcode labels for products that don't have one.

Can services and products go on one bill?

Yes. Add products to the appointment's ticket so the client pays once, with one receipt.

Can I sell gift sets and bundles?

Yes. Create a combo product made of several items; stock is reduced for each item inside it.

Do products appear in my online store?

Yes, automatically, with price, photo and stock. You can hide any product from the store. See the online store.

Stock

Can I track stock in more than one location?

Yes. Stock is held per location, and you can transfer stock between salons. See multi-location.

Can I raise purchase orders to my distributor?

Yes. Create a purchase order, receive it against the order, and the stock and cost price update.

How is retail different from backbar?

Retail is sold to clients. Backbar is used during services. Both are tracked; only retail is sold. See backbar inventory.

Money

Can I pay commission on retail?

Yes, at its own rate, credited to the stylist who recommended the product.

Can I set different prices per location?

Yes. Use price groups per location or per client group (for example a staff price).
